Two lion brothers, one with an amputated leg, were spotted making a record-breaking night swim through treacherous waters in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park. The researchers believe that this swim is the longest documented swim by lions, covering nearly a mile. The lions crossed the crocodile-infested Kazinga Channel in search of females after losing fights to another group of male lions. The researchers recorded this journey and observed that lions are willing to take risks to find mates. This behavior highlights the challenges faced by wildlife in human-dominated landscapes and the need for conservation efforts.
