Shipwreck hunters have discovered the vessel Quest, previously captained by explorer Ernest Shackleton, on the ocean floor off the coast of Canada. The ship, which sank in 1962, is largely intact and may contain artifacts from Shackleton’s expeditions. Shackleton died on the ship in 1922, making it the only death under his command. The team used sonar equipment to locate the ship after conducting extensive research and analysis. The society plans to return to the wreck later this year to document it with a remotely operated vehicle. The discovery follows the finding of another Shackleton ship, the Endurance, in 2022.
