·1 min
A team of experts from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is arriving in Chicago to assist with a measles outbreak. The city recently reported its first measles case since 2019, with the infected individual recovering at home. Two unrelated cases were found among children at a migrant shelter, with one child recovered and the other hospitalized but in good condition. Two adult cases were also identified in the shelter, bringing the total to five. The CDC team will work closely with local health departments to identify at-risk individuals, provide guidance on clinical matters, coordinate testing, and promote vaccination campaigns. Measles is highly contagious but preventable with vaccination.
